The Inevitable

Days are dark and crippled,
Cities numb,choked and stifled,
Gasping in the shadow of a great plague,
Stare at the sky, with eyes hollow and vague.

There's no sun,moon and stars,
Despair scrawled on a gray sky,
Riddled with wounded regrets and invisible scars,
All that the sightless eyes reflect is,"Why?"

The voice of dollars has been silenced,
Along with greed treachery and violence
Only sighs echo within bricks and mortar,
In solitude man suffer,all together.

Out on the Earth, the Moon shines,
The shafts glimmer on the long forgotten pines,
The roads, less travelled and clear,
Peace comes dropping by,palpable and sheer.

The dust has,at last settled,
The wind basks and in the green cradled,
Nothing in the air,but many a song,
For this the Earth's wait, has been far too long!

Processions come by of deer and ducks,
They throng the roads and the grass,
Man,woman and children, wish to go,
But for them, lie in wait, Death and an uncertain tomorrow.

Man's fight against Death has been eternal,
For him, life is his for the living;Death unacceptable ,
So,Cities will come to life again,
Days will shake off the slumber with disdain.

Then, won't we hear the sobbing Nature,
And feel a drop of tear or two,
That God chose me and you,
Over golden silence and purple prayer?!

Chandni.
